Last week was a good week gym-wise, which was just as well given the enormity of another Bacchanalian weekend.
My exercise tracker is coming along nicely. Whatever an arse I make of the input – i.e eating and drinking too much, I have to be pretty happy with the gym sessions.
This weekend just gone the price seemed worth paying. Shared tables and bottles with new acquaintances, old friends, family, the first proper proper sunshine of the year here in Edinburgh and of course lashings of food and wine.
It was one of those weekends where, if you were told on Sunday night – ‘nope, that’s it, that’s your lot, your moment of reckoning is this very evening’ you’d have to take a moment in between sips, contemplate, and say ‘well, you know what, I’ve had a fair kick of the ball. I have sucked the very marrow out of life on more than one occasion. I felt the sun on my bones this weekend. I have revelled in the beauty of my country, I enjoyed a smile or two with the people I love. I saw my wife, kids and friends happy. I have enough stored up to sustain me on any journey, so take me now.’
But that was the weekend, and this is, as Shaun says day 100.
Poor Shaun has been beating himself up about his own weekend indiscretions in his recent post but he really shouldn’t. While it is certainly true we could have lost a damned sight more than we have if we had knuckled down even more we are still doing OK, and there is much much more to come.
Another 1lb off – which, on the one hand is only 1lb less than i was about six weeks ago, but on the other, feels much more sustainable than it did.
So, onwards and upwards. We have some proper good fun events lined up now for the next few weeks and we’ll be sure to keep everybody posted.
