So that’s us a third of the way done with Two Fat Laddies. We’re into May and I hate to say I entered the month with a scowl on my face after the weigh-in over the week-end saw the result below.
From being static at 18 stone 5lb for weeks I am now back at 18 stone 8lb.
That’s three pounds ON over the space of a week. It was horrible and it really knocked me for six.
I spent the whole of yesterday in a foul mood because of it, as wife, kids and cat will testify.
But it has also made me realise I need to re-double my efforts, to really grab hold of my intake and make sure I am neither eating nor drinking too much, and to get my arse back in the gym big style.
On the positive side – I am still getting lots of lovely comments from friends somehow tricked into thinking I am thinner than I am, I am still (just) ahead of schedule and I feel pretty good too.
More importantly this is the beginning of another month. We have some big events lined up. Our big bike ride from Edinburgh to Falkirk is this weekend coming and just a fortnight after that we will be doing our first 10k. I blogged about that a few weeks back here if you want the details.
We may even jam in a bit of Vikram Yoga before that.
I have an incentive too this time to get my act together. On June 4 in Bordeaux my very good friend Jean-Jacques will be getting married to his girlfriend Ramatou.
I have mentioned Jean-Jacques before here but very briefly, he is one of a group of French guys I met on a random drunken evening a long time ago who are now best mates.
Well, Jean-Jacques has finally decided to do the right thing and is making an honest woman of Ramatou, and has gone one better than that and asked me and my missus to join the fun.
It’s going to be a blast but that is fully four weeks away.
Between now and then the decks are clear in terms of any flimsy excuse for getting jaked. There will of course be Helicopter Sunday – May 15, the last day of the football season when I suspect half the county will be getting foo – then the weekend after that the Scottish Cup Final.
That day Shaun and I will be taking part in our first 10k. The race starts at 9am so even I would hope to have finished it by the 3pm Cup final kick-off but I shall be watching my tinctures very very carefully.
I am going to rein it in this month. I have to. Even if the sun continues to split the sky I will be watching much more closely my intake of foods – the Chinese takeaway downstairs and the office will have to find its custom elsewhere, and the boxing club will be seeing more of me.
Also, going to try to learn to skip properly, honestly.
So – in an ideal world, i’d like to lose a stone between now and June 4. It is certainly do-able with a bit of screwing of the nut. We’ll see how we go.

we will be discussing this tomorrow!!!
Come on Scottland !
You’ll win my friend.
Hello my friend,
I ‘m waiting for ALL OF YOU in Bordeaux!!! A poor town, with bad foods and bad wines !!!!!!
